The Story of Cardiovascular Consultants, LLPBackgroundThe group practice, Cardiovascular Consultants, LLP, is the result of the merger of four cardiovascular practices and the successful recruitment of several other cardiologists. The latest addition to the practice came about the affiliation of Dr. Tom Smith on March 1, 2002. The practice now comprises ten full-time cardiologists plus a skilled staff of professional nurses, support, and administrative personnel. Billing services for the practice are outsourced to MediNomics in Shreveport, Louisiana. The physicians of Cardiovascular Consultants, LLP, provide full-time service to the Heart Program of Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Full-time coverage is also provided at the WK-Bossier Health Center in Bossier City, Louisiana; and WK-Pierremont Health Center in southeast Shreveport. Cardiology services are also provided to Minden Medical Center in Minden, Louisiana; Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall, Texas; and Sabine Medical Center in Many, Louisiana. Coverage is also provided to Christus Highland Hospital and Doctor's Hospital, which are in the Shreveport-Bossier City area. A Bright FutureThe deep ties of the practice to Willis-Knighton Medical Center and its Heart Hospital bode well for the future. With the relocation of the practice's main office to the WK Heart Hospital at 2727 Hearne Avenue on the Willis-Knighton Medical Center campus, the practice and the hospital now enjoy the advantage of having all cardiac services from ER to cath labs to physician offices in one central facility. The addition of the ADAC Cardio Epic nuclear medicine system to the practice's scope of services in May, 1997, allowed the practice to offer the first in-office nuclear cardiac imaging in the ArkLaTex. This service augments the other Non-Invasive testing services offered by the practice including stress echo, doppler echo, transtelephonic pacemaker checks, and other outpatient diagnostic procedures.
